The Gravesham Town FC philosophy in coaching the boys to play soccer is to create a learning environment that is not too intense, which enables the players to develop at their own rate, building on the players own enthusiasm for the game. We try to make our coaching sessions fun, whilst working on the more complex aspects of play and explaining tactical responsibilities.
Our overall aim is to improve the knowledge and skills of the players, and ensure that they still retain their passion and enthusiasm for the game.
Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
