A bright sunny September morning, and the start of the new football season. This new Town side faced Istead Colts at Istead Community Centre.
As the game kicked off both teams looked to gain the upper hand. Town settled well putting together some good passing moves together. Town had a few early attempts on goal from Craig, but the Istead keeper was looking comfortable.Tom and Daniel were working hard at the back with Mauro, Arun and Brandon try to control the midfield. Midway through the first half and Istead had a good attacking spell. A string of Istead corners were putting pressure on the Town defence. Istead made the break-through when a well taken corner was knocked in , with the Town keeper getting a hand to it, but powerless as the ball popped in the net 1-0..From the re-take, the Town team workrd hard looking to get back in the game. A defensive error on the stroke of half time gifted Istead with a second goal.

The second half kicked off as did the first, with both teams fighting for control. But an early goal from Istead, put them in control. Town to their credit never gave up and continue to play some good passing football and had a number of attempts on the Istead goal.As the half progressed, Istead won a free kick just outside Town's box.A well taken free kick saled over the Town wall and fired into the net, 4-0.
Again kicked off and still looked capable of scoring. They got their reward, when Mauro broke from midfield to find himself one on one with the Isted keeper. Mauro was in no mood for mistakes and fired the shot into the back of the Istead goal, to fantastic cheer from the loyal Town supporters. The celebrations were short lived when Istead grabbed their fifth at the other end.Town were not about to leave it at that. Brandon broke from midfield and looked on goal, but was brought down just outside the box. Town were unable to convert the free kick.Town continued to press, and Mauro looking sharp grabbed his second with a well timed shot.5-2.
Town were going to fight to the end. Mauro was unluky, when a power shot from outside the box rattled the Istead cross bar.

Man of the Match Mauro.---- A great debut performance



Town should be pleased with this first performance. The result doesn't reflect game and were unlucky not to have got a point.
With more players on the horizon and a new kit sponsor the future looks bright for this young new team.
